January:

St. George Winter Bird Festival. Held on the last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of January at the Tonaquint Park and Nature Center. Annual event features presentations, kids' workshops, exhibits, sales, field trips, and an evening banquet. Presented by Red Cliffs Audubon Society. Festival is designed for beginning and experienced birders. 435-673-0996

February:

February 17, 2007: Mariposa Fine Art Gallery Grand Opening. Dress to impress! Light refreshments and drinks will be served. Flutist Jesse Kahlu is the featured musical guest. 7 to 9 PM. Call 435-688-7222 and ask for the Marketing Department for more information.

Parade of Homes. More than 23,000 people come to view the latest home designs, house plans, decorating and building ideas available. These homes vary from the low $100,000s to $1 million and $2 million homes. The Parade of Homes is held in mid-February every year and is sponsored by the Southern Utah Home Builders Association. 435-674-1400

Dixie College Invitational Art Show. Artists from the western states are invited to display their works of art at the Graff Fine Arts Center on the Dixie State College campus. Admission is free.

March:

St. George Arts Festival. The Arts Festival is held on Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend. A variety of artists display their art from all over the United States. Events include food booths, entertainment and activities for children. Call the St. George City Leisure Services for more information. 435-634-5850

Dixie Downs Horse Race. Horse racing is sponsored by the St. George Lions Club and held at the Washington County Fair Park. Sanctioned by the Utah Racing Commission. 435-673-5553

Furball Gala April 5th, 9:00pm Hilton Garden Inn
Benefit for homeless animals with dinner and dancing to the Desert Heat band and a live and silent auction, hosted by Randall Carlisle, news anchor for ABC 4.

2008 Dixie Escalante Electric Kite Festival April 19th, 10:00am Sun River Golf Course
A wholesome, uplifting family-oriented event where everyone can participate, have fun and get out in the fresh air! Designed to encourage school children to read and engage in a family-oriented physical event,the day is designed for family members of ALL ages!
Qualifying students will earn a high-quality kite to fly for the day. They just need to remember to bring their three month HOME READING CHART, signed by their parent, to redeem their kite and be entered into a drawing for Ipods and Laser Mania Passes.
There will be children games, with a minimal charge for some of the activities, and the wind willing, a great day for kite flying. So Moms, Dads, brothers and sisters, bring your kites and lets have some fun!!

The amphitheater has 2,000 seats and offers 1,500 foot sandstone cliffs as a backdrop. Check this years productions at Tuacahn Amphitheatre

July:

4th of July Celebration starting 7:00am Vernon Worthen Park
Start your day off with breakfast in the park-$4.00 per adult; $3.00 per child, bring your blanket and enjoy a relaxing family day. There will be booths selling crafts and other goods, food booths, organized games throughout the day, bouncy's for the little ones and other fun things to do. And of course, what would the day be without FIREWORKS to top off the days celebration!!

Hoodoo 500 UltraMarathon Bicycle Race Sept 13th - 15th Best Western Abbey Inn.
World's best 500 mile, non-stop bicycle race starting in St. George and following a course through Hurricane, Kanab, Bryce, Escalante, Torrey, Panguitch, Cedar City and back to St. George. Solo and relay team divisions. 48 hour time limit. 818 889 2453

Lions Dixie Roundup Rodeo. The annual rodeo is held the second week in September at the Sun Bowl in St. George. Held by the St. George Lions Club and approved by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association. 435-652-1330

Santa Clara Swiss Days. Held on the last Friday and Saturday of September, the town of Santa Clara celebrates its Swiss heritage. The event offers historical displays, craft and food booths and a fun run. 435-673-6712

October:

St. George Marathon and Pasta Dinner Oct. 3rd - 8th More than 4,000 participants from all over the world come to St. George, Utah to run in the 13th largest marathon in the nation. The marathon begins in the beautiful mountains of Pine Valley at Central, and winds its way down nearly 1,600 feet through red sandstone cliffs and ancient lava flows to the center of St. George. "Runner's World" lists it as one of the "10 Most Scenic and Fastest Marathons". 435-634-5850

Huntsman World Senior Games. Thousands of athletes, age 50 and above, enter this international sporting competition. The games offer 20 sports, healthy lifestyle seminars, 10 critical health tests, socials and spectacular ceremonies. Call for applications. 800-562-1268

November:

Eclipse Film Festival. The Eclipse Film Festival was founded in 1999, and is cosponsored by the Community Arts Division of St. George. 435-628-3678

Jubilee of Trees. Each year, Christmas trees are beautifully decorated and donated by area organizations, businesses and families. Events include a teddy bear picnic, fashion show, gift booths and live entertainment. Proceeds benefit the Dixie Regional Medical Center. 435-673-5235

Tuacahn's Festival of Lights. Every year from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day, the Tuacahn Center for the Arts is lit up in a dazzling display of lights. A live nativity scene is also featured.

December:

Dixie Rotary Bowl. The St. George Rotary Club sponsors this annual football game held the first Saturday in December. The two best junior college teams are invited to play in one of the top-rated junior college football games in America, held at the Hansen Stadium in St. George. Events include a golf tournament, a banquet with a sports oriented speaker, marching band competitions and a parade. 435-652-7546
