ATVs are one of the greatest innovations in the outdoors and are gaining popularity as a fun outdoor sport. If you want to cover a lot of ground and quickly climb to the top of the best lookout points, an ATV is a great way to do it without losing your breath. Moab’s roads and trails are popular because they combine the ideal balance of challenge and scenery. The area surrounding Moab contains thousands of miles of trails which are open to ATV riders, you can choose from exciting backcountry trails or the challenging 4WD trails as well.

If you are an inexperienced rider you may want to consider hiring a guide as the trails are sometimes not well marked. A guide will also be able to assist you in traversing some of the more challenging terrain. ATV Laws:

1. Your ATV must display a current ATV registration sticker.
2. You must be 16 years old and hold a valid drivers license to operate an ATV on public land, drivers between the ages of 8 to 15 must hold an ATV education certificate issued by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation. No one under the age of eight is allowed to drive an ATV on public land.
3. Helmets must be worn by all ATV riders under the age of 18.
4. Headlights must be used from dusk to dawn.
5. If you are riding in a sand dune area it is required that you have a brightly colored flag attached to your ATV.
6. Ride only in designated ATV areas.
7. Never operate an ATV while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
