In some places the river is wide and warm, just perfect for a swim. Talk to your guide about choosing a river run with just the right amount of excitement for your family. If you have young children you might find the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River to be the perfect fit. This section of river contains the perfect mixture of mild rapids and calm water to give your family a taste of rafting. Learning to paddle and work together as a team will help to build your children’s confidence as well as their friendship. Your kids will also enjoy playing in the sandy beaches along the river. If you want to experience Moab without getting wet you can take your family on an off-road 4x4 excursion instead. 4x4 excursions make for a perfect family activity because everyone from infants to seniors can participate. A Moab rock-climbing tour in a Hummer or other four wheel drive vehicle provides one of the most amazing off road experiences in the world. On a Jeep or Hummer safari through the Moab area your family will have the opportunity to climb to the top of incredible, seldom-seen overlooks and venture out to hard-to-find ancient Indian ruins.

Moab is located close to two national parks - Arches National Parks and Canyonlands National Park. Both of these parks boast spectacular, one-of-a-kind scenery and rock formations. Each of the parks contain several moderate to easy hikes that would be perfect for the whole family. Information about the different hikes’ location and accessibility can be obtained freely at the parks’ visitors centers.

After hiking, mountain biking, river rafting, four-wheeling, sightseeing, and exploring Arches and Canyonlands National Parks near Moab treat yourself to a fun, relaxing evening at the Bar-M Chuckwagon. They will treat you to some old western fun with including the music and comedy of the Bar-M Wranglers. They provide an authentic, high-energy western dinner show full of folklore, humor, and audience participation. While you are there you can also enjoy gunfights, games, a western village, gift shop, and more.

Moab can get very hot during midday so it is a good idea to do your outdoor exploring during the morning and late afternoon, which leave part of your day open to explore the other family oriented entertainment that Moab has to offer. At the Butch Cassidy King World Waterpark your kids will enjoy the fun waterslides and pools while you take some time to relax in the sun. Moab also has a public pool at 181 West 400 North. Ya Gotta Wanna is another family entertainment center featuring miniature golf, go-carts, and a video arcade. If you want to simply sit down and relax you can take in a movie at the Slickrock Cinemas, a three screen movie theater located on the south end of town.
