There are many things that families can do together in Zion National Park, Utah. For instance, many of the trails in Zion National Park are suitable for hikers of all ages and physical fitness levels. The trail to Lower Emerald Pools in Zion Canyon is short, paved, and handicap accessible. There are also several easy trails in Kolob Canyon. Besides hiking, families enjoy riding bikes up the main road of Zion Canyon. Many families also spend time together as they drive one of the scenic drives near the national park.
There are several other recreational activities - like riding ATVs together or riding horseback - that are great ways for the entire family to explore together while having fun.
If the family doesn't mind leaving Zion National Park for a short while, the area ghost towns are a great idea. For instance, Grafton is particularly interesting since two Western films staring Robert Redford were partially filmed there.
During the summer families enjoy the concert series at the O.C. Tanner Amphitheater in Springdale. The series features many different types of acts - including those that provide comedic performances.
In 2012, Rhett Thomas, announced a new partnership with Stan Smith, owner of the Bumbleberry Theatre, to permanently bring family-friendly entertainment back to the Zion Area. The newly-remodeled Bumbleberry Theatre has begun work on two new original musical productions and plans to announce special engagements by entertainers known worldwide.
